Privacy Policy

1. Who we are

This Privacy Policy explains how Plotline ("we", "us") handles personal data when you use app.getplotline.co.uk (the "Service"). For the purposes of the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018 we act as the data controller of your personal data. Plotline is operated by Oscar Sayers, 65 Kinross Road, Leamington Spa, CV32 7EN. 2. What we collect

• Account data: email address, and metadata created when you sign in with a magic link.
• Business profile: business name, area served, tone of voice, colours, optional uploaded logo image.
• Project data: the briefs you enter (project type, town, highlights, optional client soundbite) and the AI-generated content produced from them.
• Photos: if you add a photo to a project, one image is sent to our AI provider so it can describe your garden more vividly in the generated content. Photos are not stored on our servers beyond what's needed to complete the request. The app works fully without a photo.
• Voice learning: when the "Learn from my edits" setting is on (default), we store the meaningful edits you make to generated content, plus an optional writing sample you provide, so we can shape future content to sound more like you. You can view, edit or delete this at any time, or turn learning off, on the Your voice page.
• Subscription data: plan status, current billing period and the identifiers issued by our payment processor. We do not store your card details.
• Technical data: basic request logs, device/browser type and IP address, used to keep the Service secure and running.
• Anonymous usage counts: we record cookieless page counts (the page path, a coarse device type of "mobile" or "desktop", and, if you arrived from another site, that site's hostname) so we can see how the Service is used. No cookies, no IP addresses, no browser fingerprint, and nothing that could identify you as an individual is stored. Because this data is not personal, no consent banner is required.

3. Why we use it (lawful bases)

• To provide the Service (contract): signing you in, generating and saving your content, showing your brand and project history.
• To take payment (contract): managing your subscription with our payment processor.
• To keep the Service secure and improve it (legitimate interest): fraud prevention, debugging, aggregate usage analysis.
• To comply with the law (legal obligation): tax records, lawful requests from authorities.

4. Sharing your data

We share personal data only with processors acting on our instructions and under a written data-processing agreement:

• Hosting and backend: Lovable Cloud (Supabase) for database, auth and functions.
• AI content generation: the Lovable AI gateway (Google Gemini) processes your brand and brief text to generate content. Your brief is not used to train the underlying models.
• Payments: our payment processor (see checkout page for identity).

Some processors are outside the UK. Where that is the case we rely on the UK International Data Transfer Addendum or an adequacy decision.

5. How long we keep it

We keep your account, brand and project data for as long as your account is open. If you delete your account we delete or anonymise your data within 30 days, subject to any legal retention requirements (for example, VAT records for six years).

6. Your rights

Under UK GDPR you have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to processing of your personal data, and the right to data portability. To exercise any of these rights email hello@getplotline.co.uk. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).

7. Cookies and similar

Plotline uses only strictly necessary storage (a session cookie/local storage entry to keep you signed in and remember your brand). We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.

8. Changes to this policy

If we make material changes we will notify active subscribers by email. The "last updated" date at the top of this page will always reflect the current version.
